Converting an image to a bootsplash screen for use in the kitchen is easy! Follow these simple steps:

NOTE: If you use Vista, the Image Converter.exe app may not work. Instead go to the "Alternate Method (Vista) folder and use the tools there to convert your image.

1. Obtain or create a JPG, GIF or BMP file that is exactly 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high.
2. Open up Image Converter.exe in this directory. Click the "Load" button and navigate to the file from step #1. Double-click on the file.
3. It should display on the screen. If it looks as expected then click the "Save NB" button. Save it to the "Bootsplash" folder in the BuildOS root folder.
4. Close the Image Converter application.

That's it! Now when you run BuildOS your bootsplash should be available in the list.

Note: Image Converter gives the impression that it has the ability to convert .nb files back to .bmp but it does not work. You can load a .nb file to view it (you must change the "Files of Type" dropdown to ".nb" in the Open dialog box) but if you click the "Save BMP" button it will output a BMP consisting of the appp's background screen--not the .nb file. If you wish to convert a .nb file to .bmp use the tools in the "Alternate Method (vista) folder. Use the "Splash-RSB Converter" to convert the .nb file to .rsb, then use "rsbbmp.exe" to convert from .rsb to .bmp.
