Menu Customization

Spb Menu consists of two parts, smart launcher at the top and six phone style menu items below. Here you can customize only the six phone style menu items. Spb Menu adds a fast and convenient way to navigate through your device since it has been designed for one-handed navigation.

You can Move Up, Move Down, Edit…, Remove, Add and open the Menu Options… for any of the Spb Menu tree items.
You can add Menu…, Link… or File… to the Spb Menu. To add a new menu tap on Add > Menu… you will need to supply a name and an icon for your new menu.
To add items to your created or existing menu tap on Add > Link… and add as many as you want from the items list.
To add files to a menu, for example a text file, tap on Add > File… and select the file.
From the Menu Options... you can customize the menu Layout either One by one or Grid. You also can customize the menu Display Options.

Note: You can show only six menu items down at the same time. If you choose to add a new first level menu (e.g. My Menu) then you need to move it up in the tree and replace it with one of the existed menus. Menus more than six at the bottom of the Spb Menu customization tree will not be displayed on the Spb Menu.

Now Screen Customization

Select the applications you want to integrate in the Now Screen instead of the default items that comes with Spb Mobile Shell.

If you have Spb Time, Spb Weather, Spb Traveler or Spb Phone Suite then Spb Mobile Shell will be able to use all the features of these programs instead of the default once. For example if you have Spb Time installed, Spb Mobile Shell will show the next alarm information from Spb Time instead of the system alarm clock.

Manage Pinned

Here you can select the 12 items that you want to display on the smart launcher/home tab. In this tree you can see all of your device items to choose from. After you finish tap Done softkey to apply and exit.

Note: The backlight indicator item can be added or removed from the Today tab of Spb Mobile Shell options.

Advanced Options

Here you can customize Spb Menu and Now Screen advanced options.

Menu...: Tap on this button to customize the Spb Menu advanced options.
Now Screen...: Tap on this button to customize the Now Screen advanced options.
Reset: Tap on the Reset button to restore these settings to their defaults.

Animation Options

You are able to change the main window screen’s animation (Now, Spb Menu, and Contacts). These animated transitions give you excellent visual cues to help you understand where you are, where you have come from, where you are going, and to keep you oriented.

Enable taskbar smart gestures: The taskbar smart gestures allow you, if enabled, to select and launch one of the main window screens (Now, Spb Menu, or Contacts) from any application you are in. Tap-and-hold in the middle of the taskbar while moving your finger in a downwards gesture. Select and release when the gray popups window appears. If you release your finger outside the gray area then the highlight disappears and the screen launching is canceled.
Animate transitions: Enable or disable the animated transitions for the main window screens (Now, Spb Menu, and Contacts).

- Main window: Select the animated transition effect that you want to apply when shifting between the screens of the main window.
- More/Back: Select the desired animated transition effect that you want to apply when moving backward and forward between the sub screens of the main window.

Classic Options

Configure the Classic layout to use analog or digital clocks.

You also can choose to display current and upcoming appointments on the classic Now Screen.

Professional Options

You can configure in the Professional layout the alarm and the calendar display behavior.

Alarm: Select None, Show always or Auto to set the alarm display settings. If you select Auto, the alarm display will be automatically adjustable on the Now Screen.

Calendar: Select None, One week, Two weeks, Three weeks or Auto to set the calendar display settings. If you select Auto, the calendar display will be automatically adjustable by the Now Screen for a best fit and information view.

Now Screen Options

Here you can customize options on your Now Screen display.

Show the Now Screen When device wakes up: If selected then the Now Screen will be shown after you wake the device.
Layout: Choose the Now Screen layout either Professional or Classic from the Layout drop-down menu and then tap on Configure… button to adjust your selected layout.

Tabs Options

Here you can select what particular tabs will be displayed on the Today plug-in of Spb Mobile Shell.

To move the tabs in the list please use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

To add a new tab to the list please use the Add button. You will be proposed to select from a list of standard Spb Mobile Shell tabs.

To replace one of the existing tabs with another one please use the Replace button. You will be proposed to select another tab from a list of standard Spb Mobile Shell tabs.

Some of the tabs may also have customizable options. To open the list of available tab options just select this tab and tap on Options.

To remove a tab, just select it and tap on Remove.

Theme Options

Use a color based theme: You can use one basic color for the whole Pocket PC theme. To do so, just select this check box and choose the theme color from the corresponding drop-down menu.

Today Options

Auto-hide the tab content: If selected then the tab content will be automatically hidden when you tap the tab for the second time. If you want to keep the content on the screen, unselect this check box.
Backlight indicator in the Home Tab: Unselect this check box if you don't want the backlight indicator to appear in the Home Tab content.
Left soft key and Right soft key: Please select corresponding actions to be assigned to the right and left softkyes. These can be either standard Pocket PC actions, like Calendar, Contacts or Spb's own ones, like Now, Spb Menu or Task Manager.

Weather

Select your habitual temperature measurement unit.
Select City...: Select a city to monitor its weather forecasts.
Remove City...: To remove the added city.
Update weather forecasts automatically: If disabled, the new forecasts will be downloaded only when you launch an update manually, cradle the device or select a new city. Otherwise, the weather will be downloaded automatically each 4 hours if the GPRS or WiFi connection is established (Spb Mobile Shell will not establish it itself) and when the device is cradled as well.

Spb Menu

Spb Menu consists of two parts, smart launcher at the top (12 shortcuts) and six phone style menu items. The smart launcher (home tab) uses a state-of-the-art algorithm to select the frequently used shortcuts to display. Tap-and-hold on any of the 12 items and select Manage Pinned... to customize the smart launcher. Spb Menu adds a fast and convenient way to navigate through your device since it has been designed for one-handed navigation and stylus-free using.

You can use your hardware navigation and Action buttons to quickly get to the necessary item. The most important actions for every screen are assigned to the soft keys.
